This goes against the tradition. What you are supposed to do is bury the saint in question (yes, this method works for other saints as well) upside down in the ground and, if your request is granted, you dig him up and put him on your shrine or altar. However, if your request is not granted, you keep him there until it is. It’s a form of “divine ransom”, so to speak.
A bio-degradable statue goes against the tradition and is utterly useless. I suggest you spend your money on a plaster statue and holy card with a novena rather than this kit.

I’ve heard of all of the other plastic joe’s that people leave behind in the garden after they sell the house. this product is great for me since i didn’t want to go digging it up after i sold my house. i’m not a religious man, but this charm has helped me sell my house.

So we wanted a St Joseph statue when we put our house on the market 2 weeks ago, so I did a quick search, and this seems like the only one that is for eco conscious folks. Hey, we need to stimulate real estate sales don’t we? The box is recyclable, and printed with soy ink . Love the detail on the packaging and the booklet that explains the tradition and the prayer that you do when you send Joe back to the earth. I wonder how long it takes for Joe to dissolve?
Anyways, we had a busy first open house (of course due to EcoJoe), don’t tell my realtor, and we hope to sell our home soon, at a great price.
If we’re going to need a St Joe statue, the Green way is always good, isn’t it?

I love Eco Joe! We bought one and used it to help sell my mother-in-law’s house. The housing market has tanked in Los Angeles (like everywhere) yet thanks to our little ceramic saint we got our FULL ASKING PRICE within about 30 days. Nothing short of a miracle.
This is a really cute gift idea for someone who’s selling their house. The packaging is really nice and design-savvy, so while this is only a $15 item it looks much more expensive (and cool). Plus you won’t look like a cheapskate who bought a 99 cent plastic St. Joseph.
I like that the statue is completely environment-friendly, too. While I’m not the most green person in the world, the idea of thousands of plastic statues buried in the neighborhood isn’t very appealing. All that plastic leaches chemicals which get into the soil and water supply….I love that Eco Joe will disentegrate on his own after the house is sold making room for further prosperity for future owners. It’s got to be good Karma.

I purchased an EcoJoe statue when selling our first home. I had heard about St Joesph statues from a friend and asked my realtor about it. She said it couldn’t hurt! I buried Joe in the yard as per the instructions and read the prayer. We had 2 open houses and got 2 offers within a week after that! Now I’m a big fan of this little investment!
The plus side is that EcoJoe biodegrades in the garden, and the box is recycled paper waste with soy based inks YAY!
I used my box to start some seedlings for our new house.
Plus the packaging and instructions were well designed.
